10th Asian Swimming Championships Tokyo

The 10th Asian Swimming Championships 2016 ended with a great success in Swimming Competitions. AASF was extremely satisfied with the high standards of Swimming in all levels. Competitions were organized systematically; the venue was remarkable and the sports presentation were of a high standard.

268 athletes from 31 national federations took part in the said Championships. Bagging 18 gold, 18 silver and 13 bronze medals, China snatched the first place in overall ranking while the host country, Japan, was placed 2nd in rank with 16 gold, 19 silver and 14 bronze medals, followed by Korean Swimmers in 3rd place garnering a total number of 4 medals. On the other hand, Vietnam surprised everyone by ranking 4th place with 1 gold and 3 bronze medals.

Water Polo

During the 10th Asian Swimming Championships which was hosted by Japan Swimming Federation, eight men’s and seven women’s teams competed in the seven-day Water Polo competition from 14-20 November 2016.

The water polo competition was a qualification tournament for the FINA World Championships 2017 which will be held on July, 2017, in Budapest, Hungary.

In the end, out of all the teams, Japan and Kazakhstan successfully qualified in both men and women. This is in addition to the Chinese team which have already qualified from the previous ranking in Rio Olympic Games.

Overall, there will be a total of three women’s teams which will compete in Budapest representing the Asian continent.

Diving

A total of sixty-two divers from thirteen Asian countries participated in the 10th Asian Swimming Championships (diving competition) which was held in Tokyo’s Tatsumi International Swimming Center from 17-20 November 2016.

Of all the teams who aimed for the gold, the divers from China were hailed victorious sweeping the first ranks in all categories followed by Japan who gained most of the silver medals.
